They came, they played, they ate Shrimp!
This was our 3rd annual Big Shrimp Contest with Edo Japan, a contest that continues to get noticed, get entries and keep consumers eating more Edo Japan shrimp every year. For this portion of the contest Ball Creative employed online ads and an online contest, which supported the in-store scratch 'n' win contest and sales.
Online ads were created to drive search web traffic to the site to "play and win" by eating shrimp in a fun, interactive contest that kept players at the site for an average of 2 minutes. We saw that 88% of those who visited stayed, played and entered. We even had 67% of those who visited once come back to play and enter by "eating shrimp" again.
One of the biggest challenges faced was to drive traffic for the limited two month contest time period. This was directed through online ads (20%), QR codes on restaurant table clings (4%), and URL listing on internal and external communications (75%).
Bigshrimpcontest.com received 150%+ increase in the number of 2011 entries over the previous 2010 contest and saw Edo Japan customers vying for 60,000 prizes including a trip for anywhere in the world, tech prizes and food giveaways.
